Why Buyers Think Energy Efficiency Is Vital When Buying A Home
7th December 2022 | Energy Advice
British Gas just released the results of a survey they did of adults in the UK about how to save energy at home.

Energy efficiency in homes is more important than ever
The research indicated that most people in the UK think energy efficiency is important. Nine out of ten (93%) of the people who answered the survey said that making their home more energy efficient was important to them. This is a really good sign, because it shows that people are starting to understand how important it is to save energy and use less fossil fuels.
Given this, it may not be too surprising to know that most respondents said they would be willing to make adjustments to their home to make it more energy efficient. Most participants agreed they would be willing to do things like insulate walls, double-glaze windows and block draughts. All of these are fantastic methods to make your home less energy intensive and more comfortable.
When UK people were asked what made them want to save energy at home, more than half of them said they wanted to lower their carbon footprint. This was closely followed by wanting to minimise their energy bills. This makes sense; making your home more energy efficient may save you a lot of money on your bills over time. Besides wanting to help future generations, they also wanted to be more self-sufficient and do their part to reduce the effects of climate change.
It’s excellent that so many people in the UK now realise how important it is to make their houses use less energy. We can all do our part to save energy, cut down on carbon emissions, and fight climate change by doing basic things like sealing cracks and adding insulation.
Energy Performance Certificate
As a new home buyer, an Energy Performance Certificate can help you understand how energy efficient the property is, which can affect your energy bills and overall living costs. It can also give you an idea of any improvements that could be made to increase the property’s energy efficiency, potentially leading to cost savings in the long run.
