The Link Between Energy Poverty and Employee Burnout

 23 April 2025 | Employee Energy Advice

As prices go up, many people struggle with mental health especially when it comes to energy costs. This form of fuel poverty can lead to employee burnout.

Employee burnout is a serious issue affecting many workers. The recent UK Burnout Report shows that 90% of employees have felt very stressed over the past year, especially among younger workers aged 18-24. This age group faces challenges like working unpaid overtime and taking on more tasks due to the rising cost of living.

This pressure can lead to anxiety and stress, especially for people in low-income households who find it harder to pay for basic needs like energy. It’s crucial for employers to support their workers during these tough times.

RES Employee Energy Advice

To help with these challenges, RES runs the Employee Energy Advice Programme. This free service teaches employees how to save energy at workand at home, easing some of their financial burdens. By giving workers the tools to manage their energy use, we aim to create a healthier work environment for everyone.

Benefits to Employee Mental Health

Less Financial Stress

Learning how to manage energy costs can help employees lower their bills, reducing financial worries and improving mental health.

Better Productivity

When employees understand energy saving techniques a little better, they can create a more comfortable space to work, improving their focus.

Improved Work-Life Balance

With energy-saving skills, employees can find more time for themselves instead of worrying about money.

Team Support

Group workshops build teamwork and communication, helping reduce feelings of loneliness among staff.

Help with Sustainability

Learning about energy efficiency connects employees with important environmental goals, making them feel their contributions matter.

How it Works

The RES Workplace Energy Advice workshops are designed to fit your workplace. We offer different ways to engage, including:

In Person Seminars

These sessions provide valuable information on saving energy in an easy-to-understand way.

Group Sessions

Held in smaller areas, these discussions promote learning and teamwork among employees.

Pop Up Services

Pop-up stations in common areas allow employees to ask questions during breaks or on the way in and out of the office.

One-on-One Consultations

Personal sessions with energy experts provide tailored advice for each employee.

Don’t let your colleagues face the challenges of energy poverty and burnout alone. The RES Workplace Energy Advice Programme is here to help. By investing in your employees’ well-being, we can help you create a happier and more engaged workplace.
